For many years, the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) has conducted programs to educate the public about the Ohio River, one of the country’s great natural resources. In an effort to provide additional support for its educational activities, the Commission formed a 501c3 non-profit educational organization, the ORSANCO Educational Foundation, in 2004. The Foundation is an adjunct, but separate, non-profit organization that provides a mechanism to develop, manage, and raise funds for educational and public awareness programs.
In 2009, to better reflect the Foundation’s purpose, the organization changed its name to the Foundation for Ohio River Education (FORE). FORE teaches people of all ages in the Ohio River Basin to become environmental stewards through hands-on programs that get people on the water and engaged in preserving the cultural, ecological, and economic value of our rivers.
FORE continues to improve existing programs and develop new programs to reach a broader audience. Learn more about FORE.
